(*) The common question that all the users usually ask – 'Why MMS2LJ needs my LiveJournal password? I heard that it is insecure to pass LiveJournal password to any service other than LiveJournal itself!'. The answer is: yes, it MAY BE potentially insecure. MMS2LJ needs your password only because it simply cannot function without it: when you are using the gateway, it is posting picture messages to LiveJournal on your behalf. The service was designed and developed with strong concerns about user security, and a lot of measures were taken to protect your personal information. So it's your decision whether you trust the service or not. If you don't, simply don't use it.

MMS2LJ is a gateway system allowing you to post pictures to your LiveJournal blog directly from your mobile device. MMS2LJ supports ANY device that is able to send MMS or simply e-mail message with picture attachment. Currently MMS2LJ is FREE OF CHARGE and allows unlimited storage for your pictures, but the picture size is limited to 256 KB. MMS2LJ is very simple to use: all you need is sending MMS to gateway email address, and the system will do the rest for you. To use MMS2LJ, you need to register MMS2LJ account. After registration you will be able to post picture messages via MMS2LJ using your mobile device or email client.

To login to MMS2LJ or register new MMS2LJ profile use username/password fields on the left side of the screen. Enter your LiveJournal username and password and press «Login or register» button. If you are not yet registered with MMS2LJ, you will be taken to registration screen.

MMS2LJ POSTING HOWTO:
  1. Create MMS message
  2. If you haven't enabled simple authentication, add text part that begins with the following text: auth <username>:<mms2lj_gateway_password> [mode], where mms2lj_gw_password is your MMS2LJ gateway password (the one you've received upon the registration, NOT your LiveJournal password!), and mode is optional and can be either !p or !f for private and friends-only messages, respectively. If [mode] is omitted, the message will be posted as public entry. Any text you add after this point will be simply posted as the text of your entry.
  3. Send your MMS (choose option 'Send to e-mail address') to the following address: mms2lj@xfyre.com
  4. If you have enabled simple authentication and don't want to add any text, just send your MMS to mms2lj@xfyre.com. Your message will be posted as a public entry. If you want to add some text to your entry, just add text part to you MMS (you don't need to specify any authentication data). If you want your entry to be private or friends-only, add MMS text part and begin it with one of the mode modifiers, as it was described above. You can specify the subject if you wish (and your device allows it).
  5. Your entry will be posted shortly (it actually depends on your cellular provider).
